I was having a difficult time getting into this class because I am usually not much for going on the net except for email, so I was having a hard time finding interesting websites to talk about on here, but today in my Aesthetics class I was introduced to the most amazing website ever.  In this class we all have to give a presentation on a great teaching tool we have found.  Today these girls showed us the website: www.deviantart.com.  This website is amazing for those out there who love visual art, since there are literally millions of works posted by artists from all over the world of any kind of medium imaginable.  This site is especially useful because once artists post their work, they can receive comments and feedback from other artists viewing their work.  I never knew anything like this was possible.  It is amazing just to be able to see how much artistic talent is out there especially by people who are not famous or proffesional artists.  It is also a great way for aspiring artists to get feedback on their art and make improvements.  They can also make sales if someone really likes their art.  I can see how this would be a great resource for students.  It will allow them to make connections with people from all over the world and see things that they would never have access to inside the classroom.

a work of art i especially loved off the website!!   I thought this photography work was especially amazing!!

  1. Glad you found this space. Rest assured their are many more like it. I think it’s important for everyone to connect to people and ideas that interest them.

User generated content like this mean that everyone can be an artist and share their work with the world. It’s all about fostering our passions and finding others who share it. I’ve been it at for a while and I”m still amazed.

I loved the presenation on deviantart too! I had heard about it before, but I didn’t want to use it, because I thought people would be able to steal my work, and that using this site would be seen as unprofessional. But now that I know the site creates copyrights for everything posted, and that it’s seen as a professional community, I’m pumped to sign up!

I was also excited to hear about this web site. I think it is an excellent way to display pieces of art. I enjoy going to art galleries, and through this site, I can do it through the comfort of my own home.

After I read your post I had a feeling of relief rush over me. I was so happy to know I am not the only one struggling to get used to blogging and responding. I to am used to only going on the internet for email. After a few weeks in this class I am beginning to see all these resources available on the web for teachers and just the average person. I went to one of my favorite websites today, Runner’s World and found there are people blogging on there. It sparked my interest and now I can totally relate to what your saying about finding that one site that sparks your interest and gives you the motivation to keep on finding more things that spark your interest through technology. I think this is a good story for everybody to read. Relating it back to education, using technology, or in any subject for that matter, we will have kids who struggle to find there place with it and I think unlocking there key place like the runner’s website or the art website for you will take time but we have to remember it is there for everyone of us! Great post, I really enjoyed reading it.
